Elizabeth Sue Simpson, 70, of Beaufort, passed away peacefully Friday, August 26, 2011 at her home with her family at her side. She was born February 18, 1941 to the late Willie F. and Mabel Lewis Dixon.
Sue leaves behind a legacy of caring for others. She was known for her cooking skills and was a cook at Beaufort Fisheries for almost 20 years and last at Carteret County Tax Office for close to 15 years.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday at First Free Will Baptist with Rev. Richard Patterson officiating. Interment will follow at Oceanview Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Johnnie G. Simpson of the home; two sons, Johnnie Simpson, Jr. of the home and Kenneth Simpson and wife Judy of Wildwood, NJ; one granddaughter, Lauren Brooke and two great-grandson, Jacob and Noah of South Carolina; and two sisters, Jessie Pittman of High Point and Peggy Rollison of Beaufort.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alta Bishop Turner and Mae Oakley.
