Elizabeth M. Settle

Elizabeth M. Settle, 78, of Morehead City, passed away Saturday, November 3­, 2018, at her home surrounded by family.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at Glad Tidings Church, officiated by Rev. Tim Marriner and Rev. David Harper. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Elizabeth loved the Lord and walked closely with Him. As a member of Glad Tidings Holiness Church, she was known as a dedicated prayer warrior who didn’t hesitate to call upon the name of the Lord in trying times or in triumphant times.

She is survived by daughters, Peggy Settle Eldred and husband, Kenneth Earl Eldred, II of Morehead City and Tammy Werts and husband, George Werts, III of Fernandina Beach, FL; sons, Walter Lee Settle, Sr. and wife, Carol Dawn Settle, of Newport, James Franklin Settle, III and wife Lillie C. Settle of Morehead City, Ronald Ray Settle, Sr. of Morehead City and Donald Paul Settle, Sr. of Morehead City; sisters, Vivian Baswell and husband, Charles, of Morehead City, Zelma Dixon of Newport and Billie Bell of Bear Creek; brothers, Howard Matthews and wife, Joyce, of Newport and Jackie Matthews and wife, Twyla, of Morehead City; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Settle, Jr; mother, Ruby Matthews; father, Andrew Matthews; sister, Ida Mae Mills; and grandson, Evan Trey Katz.

Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home.
