Elizabeth Thurman Goodwin

Elizabeth Thurman Goodwin, 79, of Cedar Island, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

A graveside service to honor Elizabeth's life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 27th at Cedar Island Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 26th at Munden Funeral Home.

Born on March 28, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late John and Catherine Thurman. Elizabeth was a beloved member of her community, known for her warm and compassionate nature. As a dedicated homemaker, she poured her heart into creating a loving and welcoming home for her family. Her impeccable skills and complete dedication to her loved ones were the hallmarks of her life. Her caring ways were evident in the delicious breakfasts she lovingly prepared for her grandchildren as well as the countless hours she spent taking care of them. Her nurturing spirit brought warmth and comfort to her family, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kimberly Dawn Lewis and husband Martin of Montana; son, Steven Jesse Goodwin and wife Jessica of Cedar Island; sisters, Patricia May of Maryland and Carolyn Crosby of Florida; brother, Donald William Thurman; grandchildren, Amanda Ashley Young, Martin Lewis, Jr., Cole Hunter Goodwin, and Ariya Lynne Goodwin; great-grandchildren, Aiden James Young and Daxon Alexander Young; and her cat, Lula.

In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Archie Jesse Goodwin who passed away in 2016, and her brothers, John Frederick Thurman Jr. and Charles Lee Thurman.
