Elijah "EP" Pickett Gillikin

Elijah “EP” Pickett Gillikin, 79, of Otway, passed away Friday, October 26­, 2018, at Carteret Health Care.

His funeral  service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Jack Mumford.

EP was born, raised and lived almost his whole life in Otway. He married the love of his life, Violet, in 1958. In 1995, he retired after a long and successful career as a dredge boat captain. He was a Mason and loved to hunt and garden. EP was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Violet, of the home; daughters, Delfrieda Garner and husband, Bobby, of Otway, Shanna Chunn and husband, Michael, of Beaufort, Latricia Middlemiss and husband, Brian, of Otway, and Sandy Gillikin of New Bern; son, Kyle Gillikin and wife, Violet Lewis, of Otway; sister, Esther Knudsen and husband, Lester, of Bettie, Linda Patton and husband, Tom, of Florida; brothers, Joseph Gillikin, Jr. and wife, Sherry, of New Jersey and Luther Gillikin of Williston; daughter-in-law, Teresita Gillikin of Gloucester; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Earl Dean Gillikin; son, Craig Gillikin; sisters, Janice Lord and Golda Gillikin; brothers, Ross Gillikin, Hubert Gillikin; great-grandchild, Haylee Batten; and his special dog, Boomer.

Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank the Raab Clinic, PCU nurses, doctors and staff for the support during this difficult time.
