Eli Vance Johnson
November 18, 1931 — June 17, 2015
Eli Vance Johnson, 83, of Newport passed away Wednesday,June 17, 2015 at Crystal Coast Hospice House.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, June 20, 2015 at St. James United Methodist Church with Rev.Tom Suplee officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park with Military Honor's.
Eli served in the U.S Navy during the Korean Conflict, he retired from civil service at NADEP after thirty years of service. He played Joseph of Arimathea in the play Worthy Is The Lamb for 14 years.
He is survived by his wife, Betty B. Johnson of the home; three daughters, Julie J. Garner of Morehead City, Carolyn Johnson of Hickory, and Robin Johnson of the home; two brothers, Bill Johnson of Florida, and Jack Johnson of Memphis,TN.; sister, Mary Lee Curtis of Williamston; three grandchildren, Sarah Garner, Faith Garner and Ethan Vance Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Maree Johnson.
The family will receive friends 6:00 -8:00 Friday at Munden Funeral Home.
