Eleanor Verlene (Truelove) Smith

Verlene Truelove Smith, 86, of Newport, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Carteret General Hospital.
A visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 pm Saturday at Munden Funeral Home.
Verlene was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a homemaker, and was active in her church. She enjoyed gardening and raising anything from vegetables to flowers.
She is survived by two sons James Lucas and wife Patricia of Mocksville, NC, and Dwight Lucas and wife Bridgette of Newport, NC; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters Olivia Stubbs of Fayetteville, NC, and Thelma Cook of Columbus, OH; and one brother Casper Strickland of Rocky Point, NC.
She is preceded in death by her parents Archie and Matha Truelove, her first husband James Lucas, her second husband William Smith, and a daughter Alvia Lucas.
