Eleanor Richmond Banka

Eleanor Richmond Banka, 89, of Newport, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, April 28, 2013.
Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Munden Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Mumford officiating. Graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Cox-Collins Family Cemetery in Pink Hill.
Eleanor grew up in Scranton, PA, a daughter of the late George and Lavina Richmond. She married Joseph Banka and moved to Elizabeth, NJ, where they raised four children. Eleanor moved to Newport in September of 1990, and enjoyed greeting and talking with people at Cox Family Restaurant and Kountry Kitchen Restaurant. The customers there helped to fulfill her life with their time spent with her. She is much loved and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Banka, a daughter, Sandra Jean Simonson, and a granddaughter, Jennifer Cox.
Survivors include three daughters, Gail Cox and husband, Ray, of Newport, Ruth Johnson and husband, Verne, of Orlando, FL, and JoAnn Marion and husband, J.R., of Newport; grandchildren and their companions, Joseph and Sean Cox-McGuire, of Seattle, WA, Jonathan Marion and Becky Rivers, of Newport, Jamie Marion and Cameron Ballou, of Newport; and great grandchildren, Dane Goodlin, Emily and Georgia Linglebach, Alley, Parker, and Emery Marion, all of Newport.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
