Elbert Bailey, 82, of Newport, died Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Carteret General Hospital.
Services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at Soundview Original Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Grady Simpson officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Mr. Bailey was a member of Soundview Original Free Will Baptist Church where he proudly served as a deacon for twenty-eight years. He retired from the US Marine Corps and Civil Service.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Bailey of Newport; daughter, Susan Hurst and husband, Cecil of Bogue; son, Barry Bailey and wife, Vicky of Newport; brother, Lonnie Bailey; and sister, Dora Mae Cryer, both of Rosepine, LA.
He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Bailey.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the church.
