Elba G. McLawhorn

Elba G. McLawhorn, 90, of Salter Path, passed away Saturday, June 30­, 2018 at Carteret Health Care.

Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2018 at the Crystal Coast Worship Center in Salter Path, officiated by Rev. Bobby Howard. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Elba was born on May 24, 1928 and was raised in Pitt County, North Carolina. She opened Elba’s Beauty Shop in 1979 and worked there until 2014.

She is survived by her son, Glenn “Skeeter” McLawhorn and wife, Ann, of Beaufort; daughter, Taffie Baysden and Jamie, of Salter Path; sisters, Faye Adams of Greenville, Shirley Henderson of Grimesland, Audrey Leggett of Stokes and Helen Manning of Danville, VA; grandchildren, Alicia Forbes of Salter Path, Ryan Baysden and wife, Corey, of Newport, Emily McLawhorn of Cape Carteret, Clinton Baysden and wife, Megan, of Hubert, Justin Baysden and wife, Heather, of Cape Carteret, Kimberly Bell and husband, Joey, of Sulfolk, VA; and great-grandchildren, Skylor McNeill, Haigan McNeill, Jayden Baysden, Garrett Forbes, Callie Baysden, Cara Baysden, Kate Baysden, Holli Baysden, Brantley Forbes, Carter Baysden, Saylor Baysden, Emma Bell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed McLawhorn; parents, Bob and Lela Griffin; sisters, Lois Briley, Christine Stocks, Edna Simmons; and brothers, Buck Griffin and Earl Griffin.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home.
