Edward Smith

Edward Smith, 73, of Newport, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 at his home.

His graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Gethsemane Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Dennis Evans.

Edward proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was member of the VFW 8986 in Newport.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Smith of the home; daughter, Carolyn Marie Modlin of Ahoske; son, Edward Allen Smith of Morehead City; sisters, Connie Smith Easter of Mill Creek, Bonnie Arthur and husband, Carol, of Canton, Dottie Bert and husband, Jeff, of Morehead City, and Janet Smith Thortonbury of King’s Mountain, NC; and 3 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Leroy Smith; mother, Sadie Marie Smith; step-mother, Jean Smith; and sisters, Diane Smith and Linda Outlaw.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
