Edward “Eddie” Paul Slachta, 90, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 25, 2024.
A memorial service, with military honors, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 2nd at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor John Carswell. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
Born on June 12, 1934, in Duquesne, Pennsylvania, Eddie was the beloved son of the late Nicholas and Mary Slachta. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Eddie dedicated 4 years to serving his country with honor. Following his military service, Eddie pursued higher education at the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned his bachelor's degree. He went on to build a successful career as an Analyst with the United States Government.
Throughout his life, Eddie and his wife, Virginia, cherished moments vacationing on the coast of North Carolina. In 1989, after his retirement, they settled in Morehead City where they enjoyed the beauty of the Crystal Coast. An avid golfer and fishing enthusiast, Eddie found great joy in pursuing his hobbies.
Eddie will be fondly remembered for his warm and welcoming personality that touched the hearts of all who knew him. His infectious smile and genuine friendship endeared him to many. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his devoted daughter, Mary Beth Lloyd of Morehead City; nephews, Danny Slachta and wife Susie, and Johnny Slachta; along with numerous friends.
In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his precious wife, Virginia Slachta who passed away in 2021; and his brothers and sister-in-law, Nick and Fay Slachta and Albert Slachta.
