Edward Earl Sides

Edward Earl Sides, 78, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

A memorial service to honor Edwards’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 5th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Billy Knox.

Edward was born on April 21, 1946, to the late Alvin and Mary Sides. Born and raised in Beaufort, he always had a special connection to the community. He faithfully participated in the Beaufort parades, where he crafted and piloted memorable floats, including the beloved Sea Dogs Float and an impressive Pirate Ship float.

His creativity was seen not only in his floats but also in the numerous beautiful paintings he shared with family and friends. Edward was a devoted member of Community Baptist Church, where he enjoyed his church family and had fun designing derby cars for church events.

Edward was always ready for an adventure, going on road trips with his family, exploring new places and creating fun memories. He found simple joys in life, particularly in dining at Bojangles, where he especially enjoyed their sweet tea.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughters, Susan A. Sides of Newport, NC and Frankie Sides (Joel Hales) of New Bern, NC; brothers, Elton Noe Daniels (Jackie) of Raleigh, NC and McDonald H. Daniels Jr. of Raleigh; grandchildren, Edward Sides and Victoria Sides; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Nancy Jeanette Sides; brothers, James Henry Daniels, James Allen Daniels, and Frank Allen Sides; and sister, Evelyn Daniels.
