Edna Willett Davis, 95, of Harkers Island, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 6, 2024.
A funeral service to honor Edna’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 11th at Harkers Island Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Lee Roy Pittard III. Interment will follow at Vergie Mae Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Edna was born on August 11, 1928, in Morehead City, NC, and was the beloved daughter of the late William and Lila Willett. She followed her passion for helping others by choosing a career as a social worker, Edna helped numerous local families through her guidance and help at Taylor Extended Care. Edna also worked as a teacher’s aide at East Carteret High School, helping numerous students over the years. Known for her leadership qualities, Edna approached every aspect of life with grace and strength.
Edna was blessed with 66 years with her sweetheart, the late Elbert Lee Davis Sr. Together, their life was founded on the Lord and the love they had for each other and their family. Their day to day life often revolved around the church and the numerous ministry activities they helped with over the years at Harkers Island Methodist Church. Sundays were special and she loved to meet with her church family.
Edna loved to have a good time and always created an atmosphere of fun. She loved special occasions because it meant everyone would be gathering around her table to eat her delicious home-cooked meals including her amazing yeast rolls and desserts.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her two children, Marsha Davis Parker and husband Charles “Bud” Parker of New Bern and Elbert Lee Davis, Jr. and wife Paula Grady Davis of Harkers Island, NC; sisters, Natalie W. Johnson of Harkers Island, Jean W. Elson of Bridgeton, and Linda Holland and husband Larry of Tarboro; brother, Mickey Willis and wife Peggy of New Bern; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Reed Willis and wife Lisa, Jacob Brent Davis and wife Elizabeth, and Chelsea Davis Guthrie and husband Joey; and 7 great-grandchildren, Shelby Willis, Tyler Willis, Wesley Guthrie, Jaxon Guthrie, Ellie Davis, Noah Davis, and Anderson Davis.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elbert Lee Davis, Sr. who passed in 2013; brothers, Albert Willett and Billy Willett; and sisters, Deloras Willett and Ann Weems.
