Edith Guermond Gillikin Pigott, 93, of Tarboro, NC, died peacefully on Feb 26, 2012. Born on March 13, 1918 in Bettie, NC, Edith was the daughter of the late Harry Denard Gillikin and Blanche Salter Gillikin. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Herbert Tasman Pigott and brothers Carvie, Harry and McDonald.
Edith lived in Gloucester and Beaufort before moving to Tarboro in 1993 to be near her children. She is survived by three children: Frances Pigott Harding (Tarboro), Jeanne Pigott Temple (Hampton, VA), Lynn Pigott Crisp and husband Douglas Eugene (Tarboro); five grandchildren: Leisha Carol Meares (Basking Ridge, NJ); Greg Clifton Meares and wife Dee Dee Meares (Celina, TX); Peter Andrew Tasman Temple and wife Kirsten Franklin-Temple (Seattle, WA); Shannon Elizabeth Temple Gingras and husband Nathan Gingras (Richmond); and Johnathan Brett Crisp and wife Ginny (Chapel Hill). Also eight great grandchildren: Nicholas Robert Dyben, Jeffrey Chadwick Dyben, Kristen Rae Nichols, Kylee Shea Meares, Eleanor Paige Franklin Temple, Henry Tasman Temple Gingras, Elizabeth Gertrude Temple Gingras and Ivy Kate Crisp; and a special sister Dolena Gillikin Bell (Beaufort) and her children Lee Crumbacker and Edith Styron of Beaufort. Also many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A caring mother and doting grandmother, Edith will be remembered for the love she showed her family.

A celebration gathering will be held on Friday, March 2 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Carteret Memorial Gardens, NC 101, Beaufort, NC. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m.
