Earl T. Christenbury, Jr. 78, of Newport, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
His Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Country Club of the Crystal Coast at 152 Oak Leaf Drive in Pine Knoll Shores, officiated by Chaplain Rick Brooks, with a reception to follow.
Earl was fiercely loyal to his family and friends. He was a diligent man who worked as a quality control engineer with Siemens Automation Company and GTE Sylvania. He was passionate about outdoor pursuits and fishing, and was a defender of coastal resources and wildlife preservation. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his fishing buddies and was active with the neighborhood Bogue Sound Yacht Club Sportsman’s Alliance.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Christenbury, of the home; daughter, Michelle Christenbury Gossard and husband, Ronald Scott Gossard, of Buford, GA; sons, Mark Christenbury and wife, Melanie, of Cumberland, RI and Michael Christenbury of Wilmington; sister, Nancy Higdon and husband, Jim, of Morehead City; grandchildren, Hunter Christian Gossard, Sean Michael Gossard and Matthew Edward Christenbury; and man’s best friend, Cody.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Burleson Christenbury Lee; father, Earl Thomas Christenbury; and sister, Judy C. Kelly.
