Dr. John Russell Puette

Dr. John Russell Puette (61) went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 15th, 2017 at his home in Cedar Point, North Carolina. Born March 2, 1956 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Puette of Roebuck, South Carolina.

John was a well-known and beloved veterinarian. He was the sole-proprietor of Brigadoon Animal Hospital in Cedar Point, North Carolina since 1986.

John received his undergraduate degree in 1978 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (and if you knew John, you know that he loved his Tar Heels). He then attended the University of Georgia - graduating in 1984 with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.

He is survived by his two sons James Richard Puette and Daniel Ryan Puette from Cedar Point, North Carolina. He is also survived by his twin sister, Angie P. Foster (Glenn); one sister-in-law Donna Puette; one nephew Matthew Foster (Alesha); four nieces Taryn Chumley (Case), Kaylee Miller (Kyle), Courtney Puette, Abby Puette; and one great-niece Ansleigh Puette.

John was predeceased by his loving brother, Allen Puette of Campobello, South Carolina. John had many loving friends he cared deeply for including Kenneth Lawson (SC), Toni Sowell (NC) and Joseph Caruso (FL), who are also predeceased.

John was a loving son, father, brother, uncle and friend. His humility was only surpassed by his love and care for his patients. He enjoyed morning walks on the beach with his labradoodle, Jamie. Countless times through the years John would be at Brigadoon Animal Hospital at midnight checking on a sick animal. This level of love and devotion speaks volumes to his greatness. In addition, his compassion and generosity were immeasurable.

A funeral service will be held at Chapel by the Sea officiated by Pastor Clay Olsen, located at 6712 Emerald Drive, Emerald Isle, North Carolina 28594 with funeral at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, December 19, 2017 and receiving friends following the service.

Graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, officiated by Dr. Tim Williams, located at 1300 Fernwood-Glenwood Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307 at 2:00 pm Thursday, December 21, 2017.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Dr, Greenville, NC 27834.
