Dovie (Salter) Willis

Dovie Salter Willis, 100, of Sea Level, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday at Sea Level United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Nelson Bay Cemetery.
Dovie was a Charter member of Sea Level United Methodist Church, where she served as church secretary for a number of years. She worked as a nurse at Sea Level Hospital. She was devoted to her family and her church. She enjoyed travelling and was able to take trips to Italy and Mexico to visit her son Dennis, when he was in the US Air Force.
She is survived by three grandchildren Debra Taylor of Sea Level, Donna Hamilton and husband David of New Bern, and James Willis and wife Beth of Sea Level: four great grandchildren Martina Taylor of Sea Level, Richard Hamilton and wife Charlotte of New Bern, Andrew Hamilton of New Bern, and Dylan Willis of Sea Level: and nieces and nephews Jeffrey Salter, Janet MacClendon, Theresa Garner, and Nick Salter.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elijah and Nettie Salter, husband Roland Willis, son Dennis B. Willis and wife Elaine Willis and two brothers Herbert Salter, and Hugh Salter.
Visitation is 6:00-8:00 Thursday at Sea Level United Methodist Church.
