Douglas Ray Lewis

Douglas Ray Lewis, 69, of Otway, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018 at Carteret Health Care.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Smyrna Pentecostal Holiness Church, officiated by Reverend William O’Neal and Reverend Bill Hooper. Interment will follow at Carteret Memorial Gardens.

Douglas was a faithful and dedicated man who loved the Lord. He enjoyed church and had a special love for music, whether it was singing or listening. Douglas proudly served our country for 20 years in the United States Air Force. After retiring from the military, he worked for the Aviation Fuel Terminal for 5 years. Douglas retired from NADEP Cherry Point after 20 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Wilai Lewis, of the home; daughters, Melissa Renee Taylor and husband, Julius, of Kemah, TX, Christa Michelle Lupton of Morehead City and Jennie Nicole Hartmann and husband, Dana, of Suffolk, VA; brothers, Ernest Lewis and wife, Gail, of Morehead City, Jeff Lewis and wife, Debbie, of Otway, Timothy Paul Lewis of Morehead City; grandchildren, Jayden Elizabeth Lupton, Rosalyn Michelle Hartmann, Harrison Redfearn, Lauren Redfearn; nieces and nephews, Ernest Lewis, Jr., Tammy Lewis, Brandon Long, Deborah Long, Kayla Lewis; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mary Lewis; and sister, Vicki Faye Long; and brother Carlyle Dale Lewis.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Smyrna Pentecostal Holiness Church.
