Dorothy Parrish Hill

Dorothy Parrish Hill, 92, of Newport, passed away Wednesday, July 3­, 2019, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at Holly Springs Original Free Will Baptist Church in Newport, officiated by Pastor Mitchell Parker and Pastor Jerry Linebarger. Interment will follow at Ameriah Garner Cemetery in Newport.

Dot, as she was known to all, was born and raised in Nashville, NC and moved to Newport where she and her husband, Wallace, raised four boys. She was a  longtime member of Holly Springs Original Free Will Baptist Church and her life was a living example of one of her favorite Bible verses, Ephesians 4:32, “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”

She is survived by her sons, David Hill and wife Mary and Gary Hill and fiancé Vicky Smith, Randy Hill all of Newport; daughter-in-law, Janet Hill of Newport; sister, Barbara Hyde and husband Al of Nashville; brother, Lewie Parrish and wife Mary of Newport News, VA; loving granddaughter, Tina Marie Hill Coffelt and fiancé Tony, Suzanne Bennett and husband Michael, Adam Cannon and wife Shanna; and all 7 great-grandchildren that she said made her “great”.  All of these she loved and touched deeply.

Preceding her in death was her devoted husband, Wallace B. Hill, Sr.; parents, Louis and Kate Parrish; and her son, Wallace “Wally” B. Hill, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Crystal Coast Hospice House at P.O. Box 640, Newport, NC 28570 or to the Holly Springs Original Free Will Baptist Church at 182 Holly Springs Rd., Newport, NC 28570.
