Dorothy Dare Guthrie

Dorothy Guthrie, 85, of Morehead City, died Wednesday February 8, at her home.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at Munden Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tim Havlicek officiating.
Mrs. Dorothy owned and operated Dorothy's Childcare for 23 years, she was involved with the upbringing of many children in Morehead City. In later years she gave home health care to those who needed her help and she gave those services up when she became ill. She was truly a person who gave of herself to those in the community. Mrs. Dorothy invites all the children she touched the lives of, to attend her services. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her children William E. Guthrie, Jr., of Morehead City, John Lee Guthrie of Morehead City, and Suzie Sample of Jacksonville, FL: a brother Alex Lewis of Raleigh: grandchildren Scott Guthrie, William E. Guthrie III, Tim Guthrie, Ian Guthrie, and Tiffany Jenkins: great grandchildren Jimmy Guthrie, Kara Guthrie, William E. Guthrie IV, Tyler Guthrie, Jacob Guthrie and Emily Guthrie.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alex and Janette Lewis, her husband William E. "Billy" Guthrie Sr., a sister Mary Joyce Hoxie and a brother Sam Lewis.
The family will receive friends following the service in the lobby of Munden Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund 1604 Arendell St. Morehead City, NC 28557.
