Dorothy Gwendolyn (Styron) Gaskill

Dorothy Gwendolyn Styron Gaskill, 86, of Beaufort, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Carteret General Hospital.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday at Cedar Island United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
She was born in Cedar Island to the late Melvin Styron and Dorothy Goodwin Styron. Mrs. Dorothy loved to cook and feed the neighborhood.
She is survived by three daughters, Leona Kay Damren and husband Douglas of Robersonville, Virginia "Ginny" Caroline Gaskill Jones and husband Pelham Thomas "Tommy" Jones of Marshallberg and Ann O'Connor of Morehead City; son, Fredrick Wayne Gaskill of Cedar Island; brother, Marvin Louis Styron of Harkers Island; also eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Beaman Gaskill, son, Harold Monroe Gaskill, five brothers, Melvin Styron, Jr., Eugene Styron, Norman Styron, Raymond Styron, and Clyde Styron, and two sisters, Joyce Styron Brooks and Mary Styron Karger.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at thechurch.
The family welcomes flowers, or memorials may be made to Cedar Island United Methodist Church, 2443 Cedar Island Rd, Cedar Island, NC 28520 or to the Cedar Island Community Cemetery Fund, PO Box 660, Cedar Island, NC 28520.
