Dorothy Arthur

Emma “Dorothy” Gillikin Arthur, 86, of Bettie, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at Carteret Health Care.

Dorothy was born in Smyrna and raised in the Down East community. She worked for several years at MCAS Cherry Point before selling shrimp in front of her house at a road side stand. Dorothy was a long-time member of Woodville Baptist Church. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt that will be dearly missed.

A graveside service will be held 3:00 pm Friday, February 24, 2017 at Woodville Gardens Cemetery in Bettie, with Rev. Terry McInnis officiating.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 65 years; Dallas Arthur of the home; daughter, Donna Arthur Grant and husband Wil of Pine Knoll Shores; grandchildren, William Arthur Grant and fiancé Andrea and her daughter Addison, Brittany Dallas Grant and boyfriend Steve Johnson, Hayley Marie Grant and fiancé Joshua Salter; great grandchildren; Finley Salter and Emma Sterling Salter; brother-in-law, Douglas Arthur; sister-in-law, Rose Lewis.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; Richard and Viola Gillikin; son, Dallas Wayne Arthur; 4 brothers; and 5 sisters.

Visitation for Dorothy will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Munden Funeral Home.
