Dora Jean (Willis) Jackson
December 6, 1938 — January 22, 2017
Dora Jean Jackson, 78, of Morehead City, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at her home.
Her funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Atlantic United Methodist Church with Rev. George Gouge, Rev. Brant Jackson, and Rev. Kenneth Mack Herring. Interment will follow at Nelson Bay Cemetery.
Dora Jean graduated from James Walker Nursing School in Wilmington, NC. She was a nurse for over 35 years, working at the Caswell Center in Kinston, Dr. Peacock and Dr. Starks medical practice in Sea Level, and Dr. Goodman’s practice in Sea Level and Morehead City. She retired as a home health nurse for Tarheel Home Health in 1995. She was a member of Atlantic United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Johnny Jackson of the home; two sons, Thomas Dean Salter of Atlantic and John David Jackson of Morehead City; six grandchildren, John David Jackson, Jr. of Greenville, Jonnell Brennan of Beaufort, Thomas Russell Salter of Texas, Mason Salter of Atlantic, Jordan Salter of Morehead City, and Morgan Salter of Atlantic; and five great-grandchildren, Liam Salter, Wyatt Salter, Ellie Salter, Caroline Salter, and Logan Salter.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Lynn Salter, and her parents, Eugene Willis and Maggie Willis.
Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
