Donald “Chip” Arthur Carter Jr., 53, of Morehead City, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016 peacefully in his home surrounded by family.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City with Sam Carter officiating.

Chip was carefree and loved life.  He enjoyed fishing and photography, taking pictures of his friends, nature, and his son surfing.  He loved the view from his home of the natural scenery and natures beauty.  He also enjoyed going to the Oceana Pier and taking the dogs for a run on the beach.  He was a very loving husband, his wife’s number one fan and biggest cheerleader, and adored his children.  Chip was an all-around family man.

Chip is survived by his loving wife of 29 years and his high school sweetheart, Kim Carter of the home; loving daughter, Courtney Carter Johnson and husband Kenneth Johnson III of Charlotte; precious son, Ryan Chandler Carter and fiancée Lauren Reed and grandson on the way of Morehead City; father, Donald Carter Sr. of Wallace; brother, Roger Carter and partner Kelly Bell of Morehead City; in laws, Ed and Marty Hedgepeth of Beaufort; brother in law, Bond Hedgepeth and wife Kelly of Wilmington; sister in law, Brandi Lancaster and husband Michael of New Bern; half sister, Nicole Bradshaw of Wallace; and many loving aunts, uncles, extended family and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elaine Evans Carter; and sister, Donna Carter.

The family will welcome friends one hour prior to the service at Munden Funeral Home.
