GySgt. Donald "Don" Charles Leppert, USMC Retired, 80, of Beaufort, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
Don’s memorial service, with military honors, will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 21st at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Havelock, officiated by Rev. James Daub.
Don was born on June 27, 1943, in Geneva, Illinois, to the late Oliver and Margaret Leppert. He was a respected veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served as an Aircraft Ordnance Technician. Retiring after 20 years of honorable service, Don's courage and dedication were exemplified through his numerous medals earned during the Vietnam War.
A man who embraced hard work and dedication throughout his life, Don dedicated ten years of service to Bally Refrigeration while also pursuing a career as a commercial fisherman during his leisure time. A committed Christian, he was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Don shared a loving companionship with his wife Sharon for 57 years and cherished his family deeply.
Those remaining include his loving wife, Sharon Curtis Leppert; daughters, Nancy Scott (Dave) and Regina Whitsitt; sons, Donald Oliver Leppert and Arthur Eugene Leppert (Lisa); sister, Nancy Jane Heaton (Roger Schmidt); brothers, Robert Leppert (Harley), Dan Leppert (Pat), James Leppert, and Warren Leppert; and 12 loving grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 305 US Highway 70 W, Havelock, NC 28532.
