Newport

Donald Jesse Clark, 90, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 18th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Grady Simpson. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Donald was born on February 25, 1933, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Chester and Wilma Clark. Donald's love for the Lord was the foundation of his life. As a member of Soundview Baptist Church, he appreciated the community and connection he felt within his church family.

Donald had a strong family bond, providing love and support to multiple generations. He considered himself fortunate to have such a loving family, treasuring his role as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Known for his wonderful sense of humor, Donald found joy in good jokes, wit, and lighthearted banter. He had the ability to see the humorous side of life, even in challenging situations.

Donald enjoyed working and tinkering with woodwork, finding joy in the process of creating and bringing his creative ideas to fruition. Fishing was another of Donald's favorite hobbies. He loved spending time on the water, sharing his fishing stories, and of course the thrill of a big catch.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughter, Cathy Carl of Jacksonville, NC; sons, David Clark and wife Julia of Newport and William Andrew Clark of Ft. Wayne, IN; sister, Jean Banks and husband Bud of Ft. Wayne, IN; and numerous loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his loving and supportive wife of 67 years, Rosemary F. Cooper Clark; and their daughter, Teresa Lewis.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Soundview Original Free Will Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1985., Newport NC 28557.
