Donald Francis Bradfield, 95, of Newport, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Carteret Health Care.

His funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, July 14, 2016 at St. James United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Supplee officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park with military honors.

Don served in the U.S. Marine Corps for over 27 years and retired in 1969. Don was a breeder of  Rat Terriers for over 20 years and was the owner of Don’s Rat Terriers. He was an avid bridge player and always looked forward to playing with his Havelock and Morehead City friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Vivian Marie Fredricks and husband Randy of Linden; two sons, Charles “David” Bradfield of Raleigh and “Michael” Allen Bradfield and wife Susan of Eden, GA; sister, Betty Jean Nance and husband Bob of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Christopher Jason Fredricks, Monica Leah Shannon, Heather Benae Leslie, and Aaron Shawn Bradfield; and great- grandchildren, Ellie Starr Cook, Noble Jackson Pierce-Bradfield, Junius Battle Shannon and Sean Willow Pierce-Walsby.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 66 years, Betty Ann Bradfield; parents, Charles and Christina Bradfield; and three sisters, Evelyn Severe, Ethel Woytesek, and Barbara Jean Davis.

The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
