Don Neptune

Don Neptune, 75, of Morehead City, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Brookdale Assisted Living, Morehead City, NC.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on September 7, 2022, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Morehead City.

Don was born on September 4, 1946, in Charleston, West Virginia, to the late James Russell Neptune and Virginia Neptune. Don proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard including aboard the Chilula at Ft. Macon. He went on to earn a BS degree from Florida State University in Business/Hotel and Restaurant management. He spent many years managing fine restaurants in major cities before moving to Durham to manage food service at the VA Hospital. After retiring from the VA, he and his best friend John continued many small business ventures in Durham.

Don served his Lord many years in Durham at McMannen United Church where he sang in the choir, served many committees, and was Lay Person Of the Year. Currently he is a member of First United Methodist Church in Morehead City.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Neptune; his son, Mike Neptune (Mary Beth) of Durham, NC; sister, Nancy Pharo (Richard) of Jacksonville, FL; brothers-in-law, David Aitken (Nancy) of Morehead City and Thomas L. Aitken (Luanne) of Morehead City.

Many thanks to the wonderful family, friends, and neighbors who were there for us through this journey and to the caregivers at Brookdale Memory Care and Community Hospice who were so special to Don in the last months.
