Dianne Meeks MacAvery, 67, of Peletier, North Carolina, passed away on December 14, 2023, at her home.
Born on April 17, 1956, Dianne was the daughter of the late Phillip and Irene Collins. She was born in Troy, New York, and her family later moved to Oneota, New York where she grew up.
Dianne was a compassionate and nurturing soul, who dedicated her life to helping children with special needs. Her work as a special needs assistant in the Oneota and Carteret County Public School Systems made an impact on numerous lives. Dianne also helped at the Newport Development Center, showcasing her commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of those around her. Always one to stay busy, Dianne also waitressed in Swansboro where she was a welcoming face to her customers.
Beyond her professional life, Dianne found joy in the simple pleasures the world had to offer. She had a love for fishing and would often spend her free time casting her line. She had a vibrant spirit, and her infectious laughter could light up any room she entered. Dianne was the life of the party, always eager to bring laughter to those around her.
Dianne's family was the center of her world. She shared a deep and loving bond with her husband, Peter MacAvery, who was always by her side, supporting her in all her endeavors. Their union was a testament to the power of love and partnership, and they shared countless memories of a life filled with laughter and shared experiences.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Pete MacAvery; sons, Nicholas J. Meeks (Nicole) of Syracuse, NY, Christopher L. Meeks (Brandi) of Swansboro, NC, and Kevin W. Meeks (Crystal Hendricks) of New Hampshire; brothers, Douglas Collins (June) of Texas, and Jeffry Collins (Lori) of California; grandchildren, Caleb, Connor, Cody, and River Meeks; and step-granddaughter, Kerha.
In addition to her parents, Dianne was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Meeks.
In accordance with Dianne's wishes, her family has chosen to celebrate her life privately.
