Diana “Lady Di” Louise Vann, 63, of Beaufort, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
A funeral service to honor Diana’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 17 at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Dr. Carlton Davis. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Diana was born on December 29, 1961, in Beaufort, NC, to the late William and Carolene Vann. When Diana was younger, she attended Carteret County Public Schools. She was known for her warm heart, generous spirit, and love for her family and community. Diana loved cooking and could always be found in the kitchen preparing meals that brought everyone together. Her home was a haven for neighborhood children, who treated her just like their own grandma.
Diana also enjoyed riding her bike around town, greeting friends and neighbors along the way. She was a diehard Carolina Tar Heels fan, cheering on her team with unmatched enthusiasm. Diana was a devoted member of Saint Stephen’s Congregational Church in Beaufort, where she found strength in her faith. Her kindness and love will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughters, Tamika Vann of Camden, NC, and Carolene Vann of Beaufort, NC; sisters, Sarah Vann of Beaufort, NC and Melba Fallin (Melvin) of Clarksville, TN; brothers, Malcolm Vann Sr. (June) of Morehead City, Guy Vann Sr. (Sharon) of New Orleans, LA, David Vann of Beaufort, Calvin Gaskill, Juan Vann, William “Billy” Vann Jr., and Michael Gaskill; grandson, Christopher Devone Jr.; nieces and nephews, Monica, Samantha, Daryl, Frederick, Melvin Jr., Lewis, Darnell, Cherelle, Guy Jr., Tracey, Malcolm Jr., Jason, Maliyah, Jessiah, Yasmin, Kisha, Kimberly, Tiffany, and Stephen; friends, Pearlie Oden, Catherine Nolen, Ketha Oden, Lillian Oden, Emmavon Oden, Julia Oden, Rodney Oden, Toni Oden, Taeya Stanley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and family members.
In addition to her parents, Diana was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Ethel Virginia Burr Pickett; brothers, Christopher “Buttermilk” Vann, Phillip Gaskill; and sister, Lelia Johnson.
