Dennis Ray Tipton

Dennis Ray Tipton, 61, of Harlowe, died Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at home surrounded by family.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Rimmer officiating.
Dennis was a retired Marine. He enlisted on October 19, 1970 and retired on July 31, 1991, after returning from Desert Shield Desert Storm. He was attached to VMAQ-2. After his retirement from the Marines he went to work for his best friend Joel Henry Davis, where he worked till he was diagnosed with cancer. He said "he was the luckiest man on earth to do work he liked with his best friend he had".
He was the youngest of 9 living children, born to James West "Mutt" and Nell Marcum Tipton. In Ravenna, Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Ida Tipton of the home; one grandson Derrin Wells of Beaufort; two sisters Betty Woosley, and Helen Tipton both of Florida; and two brothers Max Tipton of Ravenna, KY, and Tom Tipton of Washington State.
He was preceded in death by the apple of his eye, daughter Susan Ray Tipton Wells Sittinger.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital 332 N. Lauderdale St. Memphis, TN 38105.
