Dennis Dale Thomason

Dennis Dale Thomason, 73, of Atlantic, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 5th at Munden Funeral Home.

Born on April 28, 1951, in Lexington, NC, Dennis was the beloved son of the late Henry and Louise Thomason. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Marines Corps, demonstrating a commitment to duty and service.

Dennis's passion for writing shaped his career for over 30 years at the Carteret News Times, where he served as a Sports Editor and later as a news reporter. His dedication to his work and community was evident in every story he wrote.

A devoted member of Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church, Dennis loved the Lord and served faithfully as a Deacon, embodying the values of kindness and service in his everyday life.

Active and adventurous, Dennis enjoyed running marathons and sailing in his spare time. His love for literature kept him engaged, nurturing a deep appreciation for reading. Known for his gentle spirit, Dennis had a special affection for animals and always took the time to share a moment with a furry friend.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Phyllis Thomason of Morehead City, NC; step-daughter, Angie Tarleton of Morehead City; step-son, Casey Tarleton (Kristy) of Lexington, NC; step-grandchildren, Jackson Tarleton of Lexington, NC, Hunter Jordon and Tanner Jordon, both of Lexington.
