Dennis R. Foster, 61, of Morehead City, peacefully passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Carolina East Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday, June 22, 2015 at South Banks Church with Pastor Peter J. Minks Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Dennis served three years active duty in the U.S. Army in the Artillery and Special Weapons Division. He was awarded the Soldier's Medal for saving a drowning child. He used his G.I Bill to attend college and received his Associates Degree from Riverside City, College CA, and he also received his Bachelor's in Science from University of California, Redlands. He worked for Riverside City Public Works Department in California. Dennis began his career with the U.S. Forest service with the Allegheny National Forest in Warren PA, He then transferred to work in Eastern North Carolina where he retired after 29 years as the Assistant District Ranger, in charge of recreation for Croatan National Forest. He was also the Camp Manager and facility Unit Officer for Red Team Fires.

Dennis was a very talented guitar player, who wrote, performed and recorded songs for two Christian CDs, including a love song written for his wife, that has become a favorite to be played at weddings. He loved the ocean, diving, a master gardener that shared the fruits of his labor. He at one time, had a ranch, where he raised horses, cattle, pigs, and bees.

He was a very active member in his Church, and leader of the Praise and Worship Team. A selfless man that spent time as a Christian Missionary and Lay Pastor servant to all.  Faithfully adored husband and father. Excellent provider that worked hard to maintain the trust that he shared with his wife, children and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sheri Low Foster of the home; three sons, Brandon and wife Kristen, Derrick, and Jacob; two sisters, Becky Ward and husband John and Debbie Cornwell; grandchildren, Charlotte and grandson, due in November Christopher Ray; brother, Jr. Cornwell; step sister, Shirley Jones; two step-brothers,Tim and Steven Jones;  brothers-in-law, Michael Low and wife Sheree, David Low and wife Sharon; two sisters in law, Meiling and husband  Michael Dew and Vicki Low; mother-in-law, Mrs.Daisy Low;  many uncles, aunts, cousins.and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Foster; step father Glynn Cornwell; father-in-law, Dr. Edward Low.

The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Munden Funeral Home.
