Delmose "Hoover" Garner, 84, of Beaufort, passed away Wednesday April 10, 2013 at his daughter's home surrounded by family.
A graveside service will be held 10:00 am Saturday at Carteret Memorial Gardens with his grandson Chris Long officiating.
Hoover worked at Open Grounds Farms for 25 years. He loved fishing, watching baseball games, and riding around on Open Grounds Farm. He was a big Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan, and Carolina Tarheels fan.
He is survived by five children Laura Long and husband Mike of Beaufort, Donald Garner and wife June of Beaufort, Douglas Garner and wife Shelley of Harkers Island, Dennis Garner and wife Gay of Beaufort, and Durwood Garner and wife Wendy of Otway: nine grandchildren Michael Long, Chris Long, Gayle Garner, Taylor Garner, Alyssa Garner, Dustin Garner, Donald Garner, Robyn Wilson and husband Tom, and Hannah Garner: one great granddaughter Sophia Mae Wilson: brother Isaac Garner and wife Linda of Merrimon: and sister Edna Harrell of Rose Hill.
He was preceded in death by wife Nellie Mae Garner, parents Jeff and Annie Garner, and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 Friday at Munden Funeral Home.
