Delmar Lee Dingess, 89, of La Plata, Maryland and Newport, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at his residence in Maryland.
A funeral service to honor Delmar’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 18th at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, NC, officiated by Chaplain Mark Holland. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park in Newport, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Delmar was born on November 21, 1934, in Mingo County, West Virginia, the son of the late Rev. Harry Dingess and Lula Dingess. He retired as the owner of two convenience stores in Maryland but continued to develop properties until just a few years before he passed. He was a great entrepreneur, and he was always excited to start a new project. He was a very generous person and helped many along the way. He had a wonderful life and will be greatly missed by all.
Beloved father of Harry Dingess and wife Caroline, David Dingess, Jeannie Gray and husband Jeremy. Delmar was a loving Papaw to 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his partner, Dorothy Case.
Delmar was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Radford and brothers, Arvol Dingess, Harold Dingess, Rev. Paul Dingess and Billy Ray Dingess.
