Deaver Rouse (Carraway) McNeil

Deaver Jane Rouse McNeil, 85, of Newport, passed away Monday, April 4, 2016 at her home surrounded by family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Soundview Original Free Will Baptist Church.  Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Deaver was born in Greene County to the late Mr. Lawrence “Speck” Carraway and Lucy Jane Moore Carraway.  She was a member of Soundview Original Free Will Baptist Church and past President and member of the Pilot Club.  She retired from the Blue Bell Factory.  She and Mr. Pete started Rouse Septic Tank Services and Construction and operated it for many years, and continues on as a family business.

She is survived by two daughters, Janice Bryant and husband Donald “Snuffy” of Newport, and Diane Lewis and husband Ivey (Buddy) of Morehead City; sister, Sue Gillikin and husband Sterling of Cape Carteret; seven grandchildren, Angela Bryant Franklin of Shelby, Shannon Inman, Dana Lewis Tucker, Johnny Bryant, Donny Bryant, Kristy Rouse Armstrong and Billy Rouse Jr. of Newport; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 39 years in 1984, Alton “Pete” Rouse and second husband of 17 years in 2005, William E. McNeil; two sons, Billy E. Rouse Sr. and Alton Rouse; daughter, Linda Rouse Hines; granddaughter, Kristie Rouse Culpepper; sister, Patricia Brann; and brothers Bembery Carraway and J.L. Carraway.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home, Morehead City.
