Dawnlee Marie Schmittberger, 42, of Broad Creek, died unexpectedly Monday, March 17, 2014 at Carteret General Hospital.
The family will conduct a memorial service 6:00 pm Saturday at Broad Creek Church of God with Rev. Wesley Holmes officiating.
Dawn was born October 12, 1971 in Middleton, Connecticut. For the past 18 years she was self employed as a home health nurse. She loved spending time with her family, nature, shopping, baking, and her dog Sadie May.
Dawn was survived by her wife Amanda Gail Willis of 12 years; sons Christopher Schmittberger of Newport, and Tony Beligotti of Havelock; daughters Dezeray Beligotti of Havelock, and Amber Beligotti of Ohio with a grandchild on the way; father John Schmittberger of Connecticut; grandmother Jackie Wernicke of Hadnot Creek, stepfather Smooth of Emerald Isle; brother John Schmittberger and niece Kristina Schmittberger of Broad Creek; sister Danielle Schmittberger and husband Rob of Newport, nephew James Barnes, sister Jennifer Morrill of Connecticut, nephew Frankie Morrill, stepdaughter Vanessa Marshall and wife Heather Nixon of Broad Creek; stepson Henry Marshall Jr., and wife Kayla Marshall, grandson August Marshall of Greenville.
She was preceded in death by her mother Diane Schmittberger, and grandfather Steve Wernicke.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
