David J. ("Opa") Ropp

David J. Ropp, “Opa”, 75 of Mill Creek passed away peacefully  Saturday,  January 7, 2017 at Carteret Health Care, surrounded by his wife and children.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted by the family on January 21, 2017 at 2:00 pm.  The Patriot Guard, Blue Knights and fellow riders will meet at the Dunkin Donuts in Morehead at 12:00 pm located at 2908 Arendell St. and ride to Munden’s Funeral Home at 1:30 pm and pick up David. The ride will proceed to the Elks Lodge of Morehead City located at 400 Miller Farm Rd.

Visitation with the Family and refreshments will be served following the service.

David proudly served in The United States Army. While serving he met his wife Christine in Germany. They later moved to California with their two children and started their own small business.

David enjoyed prospecting for gold in the hills of California in his free time.  He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and traveling.

He was an active member at the Elks Lodge in Grass Valley, CA. as well as the Elks Lodge of Morehead City, NC.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Ropp; daughter, Belinda Lula Simmons and husband Sheldon of Mill Creek; son Daniel David Ropp and wife Nui of Beaufort; sister Mary Cecille Smith; and grandchildren, Dominic Januzzi, Sabrina Simmons, Samantha Simmons, Kyle Ropp, and Tabi Ropp.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Jures Ropp; and brother Valentine Ross Ropp.

He will live on in our hearts forever.
