David Nelson, 65, of Harkers Island, died Thursday, January 19, 2011 at Carteret General Hospital.
Services will be held11:00 am Saturday at Refuge Fellowship Church with Rev. Manley Rose officiating. Interment will follow at Vergie Mae Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Susie Nelson of the home; two daughters, Carolyn Gillikin of Otway and Jaime Lynn Guthrie and fiancé, Tracy Moore of Morehead City; two sons, Rick Bunch and wife, Tauleeta of Harkers Island, and David Nelson, Jr. of Harkers Island; seven grandchildren, Amanda Stephenson, Amber Bunch, Josh Bunch, Dekota Gillikin, Alexis Guthrie, Madison Bunch, and Brayden Moore; one great-grandchild, Tyler Stephenson; three sisters, Hannah Beasley, Sylvia Ingram, and Marina Guthrie; two brothers, William Nelson and George Nelson, all of Harkers Island, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Nelson and Georgia Bell Nelson; brother, Frederick Nelson, and great-grandson, Logan Stephenson.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
