David R. Murphy

David Ray Murphy, 60, of Emerald Isle, passed away Monday, October 29­, 2018, in Plant City, Florida.

His memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 137 Eastview Drive in Emerald Isle, officiated by Pastor Freddie Braswell.

David was born on June 2, 1958 in Durham. He built Murphy’s Garage in Emerald Isle then later moved to Plant City, Florida. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working on cars with his 2 sons. He was a hardworking, loving, and devoted son, brother, father, and grandfather that will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his mother, Joyce Rudd of Durham; the mother of his children, Cynthia Jones of Cape Carteret; daughter, Samantha Gail Murphy of Emerald Isle; sons, Johnathan David Murphy and wife Stephanie of Fuquay Varina and Kevin Ray Murphy and wife Amber of Stella; 3 grandchildren, Connor, Vincent, and Adalyn; and brothers Barry and Randy Murphy.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Roy Murphy.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the children to honor him with a bench on Emerald Isle. Donations can be sent to 402 River Oaks Drive, Stella, NC 28582.
