David Benjamin Guyton,Sr, 78, of Morehead City, died Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Harborview Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Saturday, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Tim Havlicek officiating with Rev. Bart Edwards assisting.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morehead City, serving as a deacon, and with the Presbyterian Session. He retired from CP&L after 33 years of service, and served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He served as Past Master of the Ocean Lodge #405, Scottish Rite, a 32 degree Mason, Shriners and York Rite. He had logged about 100 trips carrying children to the Shriners Hospital. He served on the Morehead City Planning Board and on the Board of Social Services.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years Dorla Wooten Guyton of the home: two daughters, Beverly Kleeb and husband Robert of Chattanooga, TN, and Kim Guyton of Morehead City: two sons, Joseph C. Hill Jr. and wife Gena of Swansboro, and David Benjamin Guyton, Jr. and wife Carla of North Myrtle Beach, SC: one sister Jane Guyton Britt of Dublin : three brothers, Dural Guyton of Leland , Bobby Guyton of Elizabethtown, and Donald Guyton of Myrtle Beach,SC: six grandchildren, Tommy Willis, Meredith McGehee, Josh Faglie, Caden Hill, Colton Hill, and Jackson Alexander Guyton: three great grandchildren, Alexis Willis, Hannah McGehee, and Skyler Nolan and special family friend Patti Patrick.

The family will receive friends following the service at church.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children Office of Development 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607-1460.
