Morehead City

David Wayne Cozart, 78, of Morehead City, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

David’s family will receive visitors at their home to honor his memory. In accordance with his wishes, David’s body has been donated to science.

David was born on February 14, 1947, in Burlington, N.C., to the late David and Edith Cozart. Growing up in Burlington, he made Morehead City his home for over 30 years, where he built a life filled with family and friends. A diehard Wolfpack supporter, he rarely missed a game and cheered with unmatched enthusiasm for his beloved team.

Nothing compared to watching his grandson play basketball, always beaming with pride from the sidelines. When David wasn’t enjoying sports, he could be found outside, playing golf, mowing grass, tending to his yard, or working on his boat during the time he had it. He had a deep appreciation for being outdoors. He especially loved time with his loyal dog, Kingsley, who was always by his side. David will be remembered for his warm heart, loyalty, and love for his family, along with the little things in life that just made him happy.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife Sue Cozart of the home; daughter, Kimberly Moon (Roger) of Hampstead, NC; son, Chris Cozart (Charla) of Morehead City, NC; grandchildren, Hunter Cozart, Nicholas Cozart, Samantha Wright, Donna Petit, Bethany Dunn; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Ellis.

Family and friends are welcome to submit online condolences at www.mundenfuneralhome.net.
