Havelock

David Thomas Bayliss, 72, of Havelock, passed away at 3:35 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at his home.

Per David’s request, no services will be held.

David was born on March 21, 1950, in New Bern, North Carolina, to the late Richard and Mae Belle Bayliss. David’s weekends were always filled with watching sports. He never missed an opportunity to cheer on the North Carolina Tar Heels and would always look forward to watching the first game of the basketball season with his wife. Saturdays were for the Tar Heels and Sundays were for the Carolina Panthers. When he wasn’t cheering on his teams, he was sitting behind a fishing pole waiting for a bite.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Pamela Bayliss; daughters, Dawnna Filkins (Brian) of Illinois and Deanna Lively (Russell) of Illinois, Angela Lowe of Florida, and Keri Rickey (Michael) of North Carolina; sons, Bryan Calhoun of Florida, and David Bayliss Jr. of New York; sisters Mildred Smith (Morgan) of North Carolina, Barbara “Bobbi” McKinney (Kenneth) of North Carolina; sisters-in-laws Nancy and Pat Bayliss; 11 grandchildren and great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Richard N. Bayliss Jr. and William “Bill” Bayliss.
