David "Marty" Adams, 75, of Bullock, NC, formerly from Atlantic Beach, NC, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Carolina East Medical Center.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 16th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by R.V. Hodge. Family will be available at 1:30 p.m. to receive friends prior to service.
Born on May 7, 1948, Marty was the son of the late Walter and Edith Adams. Born in Randolph County, NC, he grew up in the nearby town of Archdale, NC.
Marty dedicated 35 years of his life to Henley Paper Company in Greensboro, NC, where he worked tirelessly as a salesman. Later, he relocated to Atlantic Beach, NC, pursuing his love for fishing by owning and operating Freemans Bait & Tackle. For 13 rewarding years, Marty poured his heart into the business before retiring to his beloved freshwater fishing spot. Renowned for his expertise, Marty found joy in sharing his passion for the sport of fishing, particularly mentoring young enthusiasts eager to learn the art of angling.
The vast expanse of open waters held a cherished spot in Marty's heart, with Buggs Island, also known as Kerr Lake, ranking among his favorite retreats. His affinity for the water translated into countless joyful moments spent boating, bonding with family, and reeling in the day's catch for the best memorable family dinners. Alongside his love for fishing, Marty harbored a deep enthusiasm for NASCAR racing. Above all, Marty will be fondly remembered for his unwavering commitment to his career, his fervent pursuit of angling adventures, and the boundless love he bestowed upon his wife and two sons.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 42 years, Patty Adams; sons, Brandon (Kotty) Gray of Bullock, NC and Bryan (Leigh Ann) Gray of Morehead City, NC; sisters, Linda (Ron) McCauley of Atlanta, GA and Jenny Ranalli of Kernersville, NC. Grandchildren, Landon Gray of Morehead City, NC, Saylor Gray of Bullock, NC, and Lane Gray of Morehead City, NC.
In addition to his parents, Marty was preceded in death by his sisters, JoAnne Barnett and Kathy Phipps.
