Darrel Lee

Darrel Lee, 54, of New Bern , passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Darrel was a member of West Carteret High School Marching Band and chorus class of 1978. On May 6, 1985 he graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science degree. After college he worked with Maola for 16 years as distribution manager. Each year he designed the booths for food shows in Raleigh, and won best booth award. He also was Moo Ella and made many happy faces when he visited schools and nursing homes. He would always stop and give a hug to those who needed one. For the past seven years, he has worked for Tryon Lighting as a lighting design consultant. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and loved to sing as a soloist, trio and church choir. His beautiful tenor voice will be missed.

He is survived by his parents, James and Marian Lee of Morehead City; sister, Teresa Lewis and husband, Michael Lewis of Morehead City; nephews, Gary Norris and wife Bethany, Craig Norris and wife Tasma, and Joshua Lewis; great nieces, Morgan Norris and Abbi Lewis; great nephew, Michael Blake Lewis; and his best friend, his dog Rebel.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
