Darious "DA" Ballou, Jr.

April 2, 1950 — October 8, 2017

Darious Adron “DA” Ballou, Jr., 67, of Morehead City, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Carteret Health Care.

His funeral service will be held 2:30 pm Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Glad Tidings Church with Pastor Tim Marriner and Rev. Shad Barrow officiating. The graveside service will follow at Bayview Cemetery.

DA was born, raised, and lived in Morehead City all his life. He graduated from West Carteret High School, and attended Carteret Technical College for two years in the mechanics program. He married Esther in 1971, they have been married 46 years. He has two sons, DA and Mark and five beautiful grandchildren whom he loved very much. He was the owner and operator of DA Ballou Landscaping, and he looked forward to having a good and rewarding day of work. He was a member of Glad Tidings Church, and he loved attending church, and the church prayer meetings. He loved the Summers over the years going out in the boat, Shackleford Banks, clamming, and in the fall over the years, he and his Dad and brothers went mulleting. He enjoyed having cookouts with family and friends at his oyster shed. DA dearly loved oysters!

He is survived by his wife, Esther Smith Ballou of the home; two sons, Darious A Ballou, III of Morehead City and Mark C. Ballou and wife, Jennifer Ballou of Morehead City; grandchildren, Adron Elizabeth Ballou, Jacob Connor Ballou, Kenley Ann Ballou, Joshua Caden Ballou, and M.J. Mark Christopher Ballou, Jr.; brother, Cecil “Sprooky” Ballou of Morehead City; sister, Beadie Golden of Newport; also many wonderful nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Darious A. Ballou and Katie Guthrie Ballou; granddaughter, Eleanor Joy Ballou; and siblings, John Darious Ballou, Abron “Tootle” George Ballou, Kathlyn Oglesby, and Eunice Brewer.

The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Munden Funeral Home..

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Forward Ministry at Glad Tidings Church, 4621 Country Club Rd, Morehead City, NC 28557.
