Dalton Dewey Deaver

Dalton Dewey Deaver, 75, of Newport, died Saturday, September 21, 2013 at his home.

A Funeral Service will be held 3:00 pm Monday at Soundview Original Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Grady Simpson officiating. Interment will follow at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Deaver was a member of Soundview Original Free Will Baptist Church where he sang in the choir, and he also loved to sing at area nursing homes. He retired from Cherry Point. He drove his 1966 Chevrolet C-10 Truck in Newport and Morehead City Christmas Parades for a number of years, and enjoyed entering it in local car shows and he won several trophies for it. He loved his wife and family. He always kept busy in his garden and workshop building bird houses.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Frances Deaver of the home; four children, Terry Elizabeth Coogle and husband James and Dalton Dwayne Deaver and wife Sissy all of Kinston, Darrin Douglas Deaver and wife Jackie and Danielle Dion Noe and husband Brian all of Newport; five grandchildren, Lelsie Ray Stroud IV, Nikki Bundy, Buddy Deaver, Dustin Deaver and Crystal Noe; three step-grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Alton Deaver, Garland Deaver and Marvin Deaver; two sisters, Lena Mae Gray and Edna Rae Taylor; and special best friend, Donald Mason and special family friend Bridgett Owens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Maggie Deaver, brother, Gurnice Earl Deaver, and a sister, Vonnie Rae Humphrey.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
