Dallas Clayton Arthur

July 4, 1929 — January 21, 2018

Dallas Clayton Arthur, 88, of Bettie, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Woodville Baptist Church in Bettie, with Rev. Terry McInnis officiating. Interment to follow in Woodville Gardens Cemetery.

Dallas was born in Bettie and raised in the Down East Community. He honorably served in the United States Army including a tour of duty in Korea. He retired from MCAS Cherry Point after a career that lasted over twenty years. He was a long time active member of Woodville Baptist Church. In his spare time, he pursued his passion for woodworking and specialized in building lighthouses that can still be seen all over Carteret County. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Dallas is survived by his daughter, Donna Arthur Grant and husband Wil of Pine Knoll Shores; grandchildren, William Arthur Grant, Brittany Dallas Grant, Hayley Marie Grant; great grandchildren; Finley Salter and Emma Sterling Salter; brother, Douglas Arthur; sister, Rose Lewis; nephew, Kerry Lewis; and niece, Angie Sanders.

Dallas is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Gillikin Arthur, parents; Sterling Arthur and Myrtle Golden Arthur; son, Dallas Wayne Arthur.

Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to ACTS Food Pantry, 450 Highway 70, Beaufort, NC 28516.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 23, 2017 at Woodville Baptist Church.

The Dallas Arthur family extends their appreciation to everyone for the food, flowers, visits, phone calls, but most especially your prayers during this most difficult time.

A special “thank you” to Rose Lewis (sister) Angie Sanders (niece) and adopted family member Brianna White for their abundant kindness and care to our loving father and grandfather over the past few years.
