D. Marie Lawrence, 87, of Beaufort, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Carteret Health Care.

Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Otway Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Terry Dennis and assisted by Bro. Eddie Taylor and Reverend David Vesper. Interment will follow at Piner-Gillikin Cemetery.

She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Taylor and husband, J.E., of Otway; sister, Erma Lawrence of Morehead City; brother-in-law, Billy Lawrence and wife, Millie of Otway; grandchildren, Hugh Shelton, Jr. of Norfolk, VA, Celeste Louie of Pinehurst, Theresa Dixon and husband, Johnny, of Glouster, Albert Taylor and wife, Melissa, of Tarpon Springs, FL, Eddie Taylor and companion, Sandy of Crow Hill, Scott Shelton of Chesapeake, VA, Johnny Taylor and wife, Rainie, of Las Vegas, NV; great-grandchildren, Ashley Shelton of Norfolk, VA, Faith Shelton of Norfolk, VA, Matthew Shelton of Norfolk, VA, Leah Taylor of Harkers Island, Ethen Louie of Pinehurst, Kelsey Brewer of Newport, Justin Taylor of Tarpon Springs, Jacob Taylor of Tarpon Springs, Savannah Taylor of Tarpon Springs; great-great-grandchildren, Carter Shelton of Norfolk, VA and M.J. Garrison of Newport; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Lawrence, Jr.; parents, Theodore and Rosa Styron; uncle, Jacob Lewis “Daddy”; daughter, Jennifer Martin; sister, Joyce Styron; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Nelson, Angus Willis, Eunice Beverage; brothers-in-law, Tilton Lawrence, H.B. Lawrence, Hardy Lawrence; great-great-grandchild, Keith Michael “Sonny” Brewer, Jr.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2018 at Otway Free Will Baptist Church.
