Curtis was born on September 20, 1951, in Sea Level, to the late Curtis and Ruth Styron. He grew up on the Crystal Coast where he spent many happy hours on the water. He worked faithfully as a commercial fisherman with Clayton Fulcher Seafood and later as an Engineer with Norfolk Dredging. When he wasn’t on the water, he enjoyed building and creating, and he was always thrilled to watch anything NASCAR. Most of all, Curtis was a family man who valued spending time with his loved ones.

He is survived by his wife, Becky Lou Styron of the home; daughters, Michelle Sumrall and husband Jeff of Leland, NC, Dora Lee Styron of Morehead City, Rénee Bateman of Baltimore, MD, and Skylar Elizabeth Styron of Atlantic; son, James Lee Thompson and wife Jennifer of Harkers Island; brothers, Jeff Styron of Atlantic, and Rex Allen Styron and wife Reva of Cedar Island; grandchildren, Brooklyn Rénee Sumrall, Koven Sumrall, Brittany Nicole Bateman, Kayla Rae Bateman, T.J. Bateman, and Salena Bateman, Jordan Bateman, Kara Thompson, and Emily Thompson; special nephews, Jacob, Danny and Taylor Rodriguez and their mom, Sara Rodriguez Block.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Little Curt Styron; sister, Dora Jean Stark; brother, Sammy Styron; and nephew, Pepe Rodriguez.

The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Munden Funeral Home. The same safety guidelines will apply.
